WYCYF Junior Sail 2019 Program Overview
Start the adventure of a lifetime by learning to sail this summer! The Junior Sail program of the WYC Youth Foundation has been ‘making sailors’ for over 50 years. Beginners learn to rig and sail small boats in the protected waters of Waukegan Harbor. Experienced sailors hone skills on Lake Michigan. Full days are available by registering for both AM & PM classes. KinderSAIL classes (ages 5-8) take place on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, 6:00-7:30. Safety is a priority: All Instructors are trained and certified in First Aid/CPR, SportSafe™, CDC Concussion Training and NASBLA Boating Safety and are U.S. Sailing Level 1 certified minimum. Participants will complete a brief swim test and wear closed-toe shoes. Life vests, boats and safety equipment are provided. We are continuing KinderSail classes for children ages 5-8. We also now offer experienced sailors a choice between extending their knowledge with Adventure Sailing or honing their skills with our racing program.
