Basic Adult Small Boat Sailing:

Class 9:00am-12:00pm
Optional Free Sail/QAP time - 12:00-1:00
Saturdays 9/7, 9/14 & 9/28

Where: Waukegan Yacht Club/WYCYF Junior Sail (map below)

Cost: $300.00 full series/$100.00 session.

INSTRUCTOR: Colin Classen - US Sailing Level 3 Small Boat Certified Instructor & WYCYF Program Director

Class  sessions take place on consecutive Saturday’s, from 9:00am to 12:00pm. There will be an optional hour for Question, Answer, and Practice following class.

We’ll spend the first portion of each session in the classroom reviewing and learning 2-3 skills. The second portion of the session will be spent practicing that skill both on land and in the water. The equipment we will use will be Club 420s for double-handed learning, RIB Safety Boats - wheel & tiller, and potentially Laser dinghies for single handing.

    • Steering/Tiller & Extension Use
    • Docking - Departure & Arrival
    • Irons/Safety Position
    • Weather & Environmental Conditions
    • Safety & Planning

The potential exists (and is likely that we’ll be getting wet most days - an absolute certainty for one session). Please dress and prepare accordingly.

Child care can be provided, please let us know if that is a need, how many children & what ages so that we can prepare accordingly.
