WYCYF Junior Sail

The Junior Sail Program introduces kids ages 5 to 17 to the exciting world of sailing. Sailing is a lifetime learning experience that is environmentally friendly, as well as being physically and mentally challenging. Classes are half-day or full-day, mornings and/or afternoons, Monday thru Friday. Our weekly sessions start in June and run into August. All instructors are US Sailing certified Level I Small Boat Instructors.

The program sails from the Waukegan Yacht Club in Waukegan Harbor on Lake Michigan. We also participate in local regattas with other junior programs.

Safety is a priority in this program –  We swim test on the first day of classes so that we know a students comfort level in the water. Life jackets are worn anytime a student comes close to the water's edge. Closed-toe shoes are required to be worn at all times. Safety boats and instructors accompany students on the water every time the boats leave the dock.

Our fleet consists of Vanguard Prams, Optis, Lasers, & Club 420s.
