Registration is Officially Open for Junior Sail 2023!

The WYCYF Junior Sail Program has not only taught kids to sail and race with great success for over 60 years, but has also taught them safety, self-confidence, leadership & teamwork, increased situational awareness, and an understanding of the environment that covers more than 2/3 of the earths surfacein a way that only happens by being up close to it.

Get your kids out of the house this summer! The outdoors! A place where fresh air, sunlight, and adventure exist in greater saturation than the onslaught of memes & Tic-toks, even if only for a few hours!

Our Adventure Sail sessions offer new and experienced sailors (ages 8-17) the opportunity to build or extend their skills, knowledge, and comfort on the water! Mondays–Fridays, 9:00-12:00, 1:00-4:00, or both for a Full Day.

Students also have the option of fine-tuning their skills with our Race Practice & Prep program in the afternoons, 1:00-4:00, M-F.

KinderSail is back for children ages 5-8!
One-on-one time in prams with teaching staff takes place weekly from 6:00-7:30 PM, Tuesday & Thursday evenings.

Get your kids out of the house this summer! The outdoors, where fresh air, actual unadulterated sunlight, real adventure, and a decidedly lower saturation of memes. A place where there are actual conversations that involve real speech and no typing with your thumbs!

Students also have the option of fine-tuning their skills with our Race Practice & Prep program in the afternoons, 1:00-4:00, M-F.

2022 Season Session Dates

Start the adventure of a lifetime by learning to sail this summer! The WYC Youth Foundation Junior Sail program has been ‘making sailors’ for over 55 years. Adventure Sail teaches beginners to rig and sail small boats in the protected waters of Waukegan Harbor. Experienced sailors hone skills on Lake Michigan. Full days are available by registering for both AM & PM classes. Before and aftercare is available. KinderSAIL classes (ages 5-8) take place on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, 6:00-7:30.

2019 End of Season Party!

It’s time to celebrate Junior Sail 2019!

Join us Saturday, November 30th,
at the Waukegan Yacht Club
3pm to 5pm.

We’ll be celebrating another great sailing season and announcing award winners!

This will be a good time to tell stories, catch up with sailing friends from the summer…possibly start thinking about your plans for next summer
(you also might want to look through the lost and found to make sure you took everything home…we’re just saying)

It’s a party, it’s a chance for all of us to say “Thank You” to you for being a part of our season. There will be light appetizers and a cash bar.
