Junior Sail BBQ+Fireworks Dinner Fundraiser

Bring the family for dinner in the best seat in Waukegan Harbor before the Independence Day FIREWORKS!

The Junior Sailors are holding a fundraising dinner on July 4 in the dining room of the Waukegan Yacht Club. It’s an all-American BBQ buffet to benefit the WYC Youth Foundation. All proceeds go directly to the purchase of equipment, replacement parts, and fleet repairs for our Junior Sailing program. It’s for the kids!

This event is “rain or shine” should Mother Nature choose to surprise us with a rain shower and should the fireworks be postponed, we will take pleasure in being indoors.

Please share our event site with family and friends quickly, because only people with advanced tickets will be able to enjoy this delicious dinner and watch fireworks in the comfort of the Waukegan Yacht Club with its members!

The WYC Youth Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that is dedicated to teaching safe boating skills, sailing & seamanship, and respect for our environment to children of our surrounding communities. We rely on fundraising and charitable contributions to maintain and augment our equipment and facilities because we believe sailing is a life skill that should be affordable to families in our community.

YOU’RE INVITED: Spring Fling + Parent Info Session > May 20

Please join us on Sunday, May 20 from 2-4 pm for the annual Junior Sail Spring Fling + Parent Information session at the Waukegan Joseph Conrad Yacht Club.

New Students: This is a perfect opportunity to learn about the Junior Sail program. We’ll have a presentation for parents, a rain gutter regatta for the kids and a pizza buffet for all. You’ll meet current sailors, instructors and parents and have all your questions answered about the program.

Children in elementary and middle school are the ideal ages to learn to sail — our KinderSail program accepts children as young as 5! Learn more about our 2018 KinderSail, Adventure Sail and Race Team programs, plus weekly session schedule here.

Current Students: Reconnect with your sailing friends before the season starts and be our ambassadors for Junior Sail. No one can explain how FUN learning to sail is better than you! Wear your Junior Sail t-shirt. Parents, your insights about Junior Sail are very helpful to other parents considering the program. We also could use your help rounding out the buffet. WYCYF will provide pizza and soft drinks; we’re asking current sail parents to bring a dish depending on the first letter of your last name: A-J bring appetizers; K-S bring a side dish; T-Z bring dessert.

Here’s How to RSVP: Send an email to info@juniorsail.org with who will be attending, including the ages of sailors, by May 17 so we have enough pizza and fun activities for everyone. Please help us spread the word!
